Last week for Family Home Evening,we talked about why we celebrate Christmas & the real meaning of Christmas. We made a paper chain, for us to count down to Christmas & there is a activity /act of service on each piece of the chain. We do something every day to remind us of our Savior. Some of the activities that we have down so far have been : reading Christmas stories, singing songs, watching Christmas movies, making cookies & delivering them to 2 neighbors, making paper snow flakes, & last night we drank homemade cocoa as we watched the First Presidency Christmas Devotional. I have had a lot of fun doing this with our family. Clayn has really enjoyed it also, this is a tradition that we will continue through out the years.
Tess & Parker had to get on their coats & go outside before 8:00 am on Saturday morning, they were so excited about the snow.
Our yummy Cocoa:Here's the recipe so easy ~
2 cups water
1 can evaporated milk
1/2 cup sugar
2 Tbsp cocoa 1 tsp Vanilla
dash of salt
Mix together the sugar & the cocoa dry, add enough water to make a syrup (about 2/3 cup), then add to a large pot with water & evaporated milk. Next add the vanilla & salt. Heat & enjoy!
We sprayed some real whipped cream on it & stuck a candy cane in each one. The kids loved them.
* Note - I usually double this recipe.
