Tess's First Field Trip

Last Friday was Tess's first field trip. They went to Kris Olsen's bee farm. I was able to go with her & we had such a great time. The bus that we were supposed to take, ended up being about 15 minutes late. So, Mrs. Rodriguez being the AMAZING teacher that she is, sang songs with the kids, played games with them & kept them 100% entertained.

Finally we are on the bus.

Miss Kris was an amazing hostess, she showed us the bees hives & told us all about them & how everything worked. It was up Buckskin at her parents place. It was beautiful!

Then, after showing the beehives & talking about how they make the honey & live. Then she took us up & showed us how they harvest the honey. I found this to be very fascinating. I really enjoyed it.

Mrs. Rodriguez trying on the bee keepers suit, then the kids that wanted to, could all take a turn. Tess thought at first that she wanted to, but then changed her mind.

More about how they take the wax off, & how they begin harvesting.

Tess got a hold of the camera & took a few photos, Thanks Tess!

Then she showed the kids their old apple press & they got to make some homemade apple cider that was delicious.

Each child got to help put the apples in.

They loved watching as the cider poured out. Then she just took it straight out the pan & poured it into the pitchers & then in to the cups. The kids loved it!
Then they got to have a piece of bread with some of their honey.
Such a fun treat & Great day!

Tess enjoying her honey, she had a great time, & I was very happy to be able to share it with her.
