Well, the beginning of school is here & now it's time to get into a routine. I have never really had to be in a real routine, yet. I have had little ones, & we have been home every day, just doing our things. Now, however, we are beginning a new chapter in our lives, with Tess starting kindergarten.
One of the many hurdles that we will have to conquer is getting this child in bed at a reasonable hour. Now, it's not on the lack of trying, on my part. It is the mere fact that she is just like her father & is a night owl! Seriously, I tuck her into bed at 8:30, & she will still be up looking at books, listening to Cd's or doing her barbies hair until 10:00. REALLY! She then sleeps until 8:00 or 8:30, which is where the problem begins, seems that Clayn is going to be dropping her off at school at 7:55.
Problem number two, is that she is not a big breakfast eater. She likes to get up & have something to drink. I have said forever, that given the opportunity, she would be my coffee drinker. I mean, we are in trouble. Because then, around 9:30 or 10:00, is when she really wants to eat. And, yes, she will be in the middle of school. They do, however get a snack, but still, that's not going to hold her over.
Problem number three, is that she is the SLOWEST eater on the face of the planet. Now, I am a very slow eater & always has been, but she takes it to a whole new level. The kid is a turtle, even just eating a bowl of cereal.
So, as you can see, I have a few obstacles ahead of me. I think that I'm just going to have to get her up at 6:30, for the first couple of days, & see if that won't wear her out a little, so then she will go to bed at a decent time. Oh, this right now, seems like such a daunting task!!!
I am very excited for her to go. I know that part of me being so excited, is because she is. I just asked her, if she is excited for tomorrow, & she just told me, "Yeah, Mom, MAJOR!" Dah, Major excited! We have so much fun, getting her school clothes, & for her birthday, Grandma Lambert gave her $20 & some fun hair things. So, we went to Fred Meyer, to get a few things, & she bought herself, 6 head bands (they came in a pack), a really cute necklace, & 2 new belts, black & pink with hearts on them. She is such a crack up! She was completely put out, that I would not let her buy some blush for the first day of school. I mean, really! For some odd reason, I'm not going to let my 6 year old, going into kindergarten, wear make up already. I know, I'm a mean Mom!
This summer has gone by so, so, so fast! And, it's not like we even did anything, really fun. Hopefully, though this fall we will get to do a few fun things. I hope so!
So, here's to a great school year. I know that for Clayn it's going to be completely CRAZY!!! Within the last 3 weeks, 2 people from the Gen Ed department resigned, & they have had to find instructors to teach their classes. Clayn is teaching 19 credits this fall. That is a TON!!! It will be nuts for him, but, I know that he can do it.
So, here's to a great school year & to getting into a routine! I'm actually looking forward to this year! Good Luck to All!
