Our Dear Prophet

Whew, It's Saturday night & we just got the kids bathed & tucked in bed! By the time the end of the day comes & I'm totally spent. I haven't written in a while & I thought that I'd better take a minute & do an update. Clayn's parents, Bill & Bev came last Monday from AZ & stayed with us for the week. We had a really good time & it was good for the kids to get to know grandpa & grandma Lambert. We don't see them very often. It's been 2 years, they just got home from a mission in Brazil. They served in the exact same area ( the northern part of Brazil) where Clayn served . So, they've had a great time exchanging notes. Clayn has really enjoyed seeing the areas where he served & seeing people who he baptized. It has been a great experience for them both to share. It's obviously not very often that your parents end up serving a mission in the exact mission where you have served. Tess & Parker had a great time with them. It's been a great & busy week at the same time!

I have had a hard time this week with the passing of our dear Prophet, Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley. I knew that this time would come & I knew that I would feel like the world had lost one of the few men of God that truly does exist in this crazy, messed up world that we live in. Where his passing barely gets mentioned at all in the morning news, but that we can talk about messed up Brittney Spears for the first 20 minutes. It really does send me nuts!
As I watched his funeral on TV today, all I could feel was love & respect for this Man of God, this Prophet of the Lord. His life is one that was in doing good & serving those around him, continually searching for the good in us all, encouraging us to live our lives in a way that would be pleasing to our God.
I know that these feelings of sadness & loss are very selfish. Because he is reunited with his dear sweet little Marjorie, whom he loved so much. I know that the joy that they are feeling right now, being together forever, is a feeling of joy that we will never experience while we are here on earth. They are a great exampled of how a marriage should be, and we could all benefit from it.
I'm just so thankful to have been blessed to live at this time, where we were led, taught, & instructed by this blessed man. I will always love him! May we always remember his words & live the life that we know we should.

Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley : "Now, my brethren and sisters, the time has come for us to stand a little taller, to lift our eyes and stretch our minds to a greater comprehension and understanding of the grand millennial mission of this The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This is a season to be strong. It is a time to move forward without hesitation, knowing well the meaning, the breadth, and the importance of our mission. It is a time to do what is right regardless of the consequences that might follow. It is a time to be found keeping the commandments. It is a season to reach out with kindness and love to those in distress and to those who are wandering in darkness and pain. It is a time to be considerate and good, decent and courteous toward one another in all of our relationships. In other words, to become more Christlike”
